Round Claddagh
Round Claddagh
The Claddagh design is steeped in meaning: the heart symbolises love, the hands represent friendship, and the crown stands for loyalty, while the circle reflects eternity.
It takes its name from a small fishing village in Galway, where this distinctive symbol first appeared over 400 years ago. Traditionally associated with the King of Claddagh, it was worn by local fishermen as a form of identification when they met others at sea. One enduring legend tells of a king, heartbroken by unreturned love, who placed his severed hands around his heart as a symbol of lasting devotion.
Over time, the Claddagh became a treasured token exchanged between friends and lovers. During the Great Famine (1847–1849), it spread far beyond Ireland as emigrants carried it across the Atlantic to North America and beyond. Today, Claddagh designs are often cherished as family heirlooms or chosen as meaningful wedding symbols—making them a perfect gift for engagements, weddings, or anniversaries.
