Sterling Silver Gold Plate Emerald Diamond Celtic Cross

Sterling Silver Gold Plate Emerald Diamond Celtic Cross

According to a popular legend, St Patrick himself was responsible for the creation of the Celtic cross. He combined a Christian cross symbol with a halo representing the sun, one of the most important ancient Celtic symbols representing life and change. There may be a grain of truth in this legend. With the fading of the old pagan customs in Ireland, early Christian monks combined Irish pagan symbols with traditional Catholic ones to create something that appealed to all of the populace.

The trinity knot represents the eternal and interconnecting nature of love. Despite its traditional meanings, the Trinity knot has been adapted to Christianity, with the three points representing the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The claddagh represents love (heart), loyalty (crown), and friendship (hands). It has been widely used in Ireland for centuries as a symbol of everlasting and true love.

This particular piece combines several Irish symbols: the Celtic cross, the trinity knot, and the claddagh. The ornate gold-polished knotwork in the hollow compartments complements the sterling silver outline and halo, creating a captivating contrast. The old comes together at the center to reveal a beautiful emerald. The claddagh (which makes up the halo of the cross) is studded with genuine diamonds and holds a gold-polished heart. The pendant rests on a dainty chain to balance its visual dynamics.
