Silver and Bronze Viking Rune Pendant 'Love'
Silver and Bronze Viking Rune Pendant 'Love'
2000 years ago, ancient Norsemen used a writing system called Younger Futhark-- known to us as Runes. The runic alphabet was used for communication by Vikings of the time. However, the symbols are more than simple letters. The Norsemen gave each one a name based on its spiritual meaning. They were commonly used in spiritual practices. Even today, runes are often used (alone or in combination with one another) for divination and manifestation.
This oxidized sterling silver and bronze pendant features golden-colored runes raised against a dark base. It is based on an ancient poem by Roman poet Virgil, written below:
"Love conquers all; let us too yield to love" (Norse transcription of Virgil c.1248).
