Celtic Love Knot
Celtic Love Knot
This piece is inspired by the design on the cover of the Chalice Well in Chalice Well. In Celtic mythology, wells are often seen as gateways between worlds. The design, created by Frederick Bligh Bond and gifted in 1919, features two interlocking circles forming the Vesica Piscis—a symbol of unity and balance between opposites such as heaven and earth, light and dark, and male and female, all meeting within the human heart.
A spear or sword runs through the circles, possibly referencing Excalibur, the legendary weapon of King Arthur, long associated with nearby Glastonbury Abbey. Surrounding foliage reflects the sacred Glastonbury Thorn.
