Early in the 9th century, Vikings settled the island between the rivers Shannon and Abbey. Their crude settlement eventually became today's historic city of Limerick.. Carved in the cross are a Grapes, Ivy, Oak and Wheat. The harp is a symbol of Ireland and indeed figures into many of the old Irish myths.

Due to the hand casting and proprietary staining process, each plaque is unique. Each cross comes with a hanger embedded in the stone. The cross comes with a descriptive tag describing the original stone, explanation of the design or information on where the cross is located.
